Flying Squirrel Information:
Flying squirrels are a group of rodents that are known for their unique ability to glide through the air using a membrane of skin called a patagium. There are more than 50 species of flying squirrels found throughout the world, with the majority of them living in Asia.
Flying squirrels are typically small and nocturnal, with soft, thick fur and large eyes adapted for night vision. They have a flat tail that helps them balance during flight and sharp claws that enable them to climb trees and other surfaces.
Flying squirrels are herbivores, feeding mainly on nuts, seeds, and fruits, and they are an important food source for many predators, including owls, snakes, and larger mammals. Despite their name, flying squirrels do not actually fly but rather glide through the air, using their patagium to control their direction and speed.
