Giant Anteater Inofrmation:

Giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) are a species of mammal native to Central and South America. They are the largest of the four species of anteaters and can grow up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) in length, including their long bushy tail, and weigh up to 140 pounds (64 kg). They have a distinctive appearance, with a long snout and tongue that can extend up to 2 feet (61 cm) to capture ants and termites from their nests.

Giant anteaters have a distinctive black-and-white striped pattern on their fur, which provides camouflage in their natural habitat. They are primarily solitary animals and are active primarily at night. Giant anteaters are considered threatened due to habitat loss, hunting, and roadkill. They are also at risk of extinction due to low reproductive rates and high infant mortality.

Part of the Wild Animals Series by Papo.
